Georgia Anna Gordon was born on February 21, 1934, to John and Mamie Rodgers in Forth Worth, Tx. She was the eldest of three children.
Georgia moved to Los Angeles, California in 1947. She attended Carver Junior HIgh School and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, where she excelled in home economics and ran track.
Georgia married Robert Gordon right out of high school, and to that union was born six children; Philip, Lorna, Mark, Gina, Pamela, and Michael.
Georgia was a seamstress, crocheted, knitted, and studied millinery arts. She made wedding dresses, her grandchildren's costumes, and made many scarves and afghans for all. She was a master seamstress and was the wardrobe designer for plays; such as, "Your Arms Are Too Short to Box with God" and "Power of Prayer". She was a costume coordinator for Barry Manilow and she also made choir robes for Henry O'Brien.
Georgia received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was very active in the church services. She sang in the choir adn was a pulpit hostess at Grace Memorial Church of God in Christ. In her later years, she attended Faithful Central Bible Church with her children.
Georgia was affectionately known at "Grammy" by all who knew her and loved her.
Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Johnny, and her daughter Pamela Gordon. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was everyone's mother and everyone loved her and will truly miss her.
